Looking for End of the Year Ideas? Here's One!

Well, it's that time of year when the teachers are exhausted, the students are talkative (a little more than usual), and summer vacation is never close enough.  It is all I can do to keep my students engaged and interested in learning, so I am pulling out some fun end-of-the-year stuff for my kiddos.  I am trying to make my centers more fun as well, so I have a center that totally consists of games:  board games, sight word games, computer games, Geosafari, etc.  One of my favorite game centers for this year has been a sight word game I learned from Diane and Kelly over at Made For First Grade.  (If you haven't checked out their blog and Teachers Pay Teachers store, you really need to.  I am such a huge fan and have purchased most of their products this school year.)  Basically, you take whatever spelling pattern you are working on and program a set of cards with words that contain that spelling pattern.  You want to include a lot of words, at least 30.  More is even better.   Plus, you want to program a set of cards with a phrase that tells the student he/she loses all of their cards.  You can program this card with whatever catchy phrase and clip-art you think is appropriate.  I have purchased their Short Vowel and Long Vowel packs and used these games the whole year.  Well, now we are working on r-controlled vowels and I needed a game to practice -er, -ir, and -ur words.  So I have made a quick and easy game called Call the Nurse!  It's nothing fancy, but it has been a hit with my kiddos, and I am offering it free in my TpT store.  If you would like to download it, please click on the link below.  I hope you all enjoy it!

Please check back over the next couple of weeks for more end-of-the-year fun stuff to do with your kiddos.  We are working on making our Inch Men and Centimeter Cats, plus developing our own board games.

An Ocean Full of Fun Freebie

Hey, y'all.  I have been working on some ocean theme printables for my ocean unit.  I have made 2 centers:  An Ocean Full of Fun ABC Order and An Ocean Full of Fun Parts of Speech Sort.  I have also made a 73 page packet of printables for writing, labeling, and sorting.  It also includes some printables for some of my favorite primary ocean story books, such as Fish Eyes by Lois Ehlert and Swimmy by Leo Lionni. I am still trying to figure out how to include a direct download for free products, but haven't had much luck yet.  But I do have an ocean freebie:  a word search puzzle.  Simply click on the link below.  I love using these for my morning work and the kids love working on them. I hope you enjoy!
