Rhyming Words Assessment Cards

Hey, friends.  I hope you are all having a great summer and getting some much needed rest and relaxation. My school system starts back August 2, but us teachers have to start back July 31 so I'm going to enjoy my last month of freedom. ☺  I have been having a little trouble getting out of vacation mode since our trip to Disney, but I have finally finished the Rhyming Words Assessment Cards.  You can download them for free (first 100 downloads only) from my TpT store.  Click here to download them.  Enjoy! (And try to stay cool.)

My Blog Won an Award!

While I was gone to Disney for vacation, I had nothing to do with school or blogging.  Of course, as soon as I returned I had to jump right back in.  Imagine my surprise when I found a message from Teacher Mom of 3 that she had awarded my blog the One Lovely Blog Award!  YAY!!!!! What an honor.

So, I hope you will hop over to her blog and check it out.  She has a really cool idea for using pool noodles (yes, I said pool noodles!) in the classroom.

New FREE Math Center Materials: Apples

Hey, friends.  I am leaving tomorrow for Florida and Disney World!  YAY!  My 7-year-old daughter is so excited. ☺  I am trying to stay away from all teacher-related activities during our vacation. (That's gonna be hard with my iPad, but I'm going to try really hard.)  Sooo, I have had to do some creating before I go.  I have made a set of apple themed math centers to download for FREE at my TpT store.  (See pictures below to check out 1 of the activities included.)  Click here to download them.  And, please leave feedback.  I really want to make great products, and I would like to get feedback from other teachers.  Remember, only the first 100 downloads of my new products are free, so hurry and get yours.  Also, consider becoming a follower of my store to get a heads-up about new products.  I am working on an Eric Carle set of math centers that go along with some of his best stories, and will be working on new sets to go along with the other thematic units I teach.  I hope you all are enjoying your summer break!  See you in a few weeks.

The First 100 Downloads of My New Products at TpT are FREE!

Hey, everybody.  I hope you all are enjoying your summer break by now.  If not, I hope yours starts soon.  I have been out of school for over 2 weeks and I have revamped some of my earlier products, plus I started working on some new stuff this week.  If you have purchased my Color Unit:  Literacy, Math & Art Activities please redownload it.  I have added several new items and made over some of the old stuff to look better.  Plus, I have almost doubled the amount of pages.  It went from 85 to 145 pages.  I have also redone the Color Unit Poetry Packet that goes with it (for free), so you may want to download that as well.

I am also starting something new this week.  I am trying to get to 100 followers, so from now on the first 100 downloads of every new product are FREE!  I have downloaded my first product:  Beginning Sounds Assessment Cards:  Initial Consonants.  Please check them out here.
If I reach that milestone, I will make the first 200 downloads free, and so on.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer break and get some well-deserved and much-needed rest!

Teaching Colors: Getting Ready for the New School Year

We'll, I've been out of school for 2 weeks now, and I am finally getting rested up (a little). :-)  But I have been working on some stuff for the beginning of the school year because we are finally going on our dream vacation!  We're leaving in a little over a week for Disney!!!! (OK, I would rather go to Hawaii, but I was outvoted.)  Anyhoo, I have been working on stuff for the first 2 weeks of school.  I teach first grade, and I love to do a review of colors and fun activities for the 2 weeks.  One of my favorite daily activities to do with my kiddos is poetry.  So, I have put together a FREE packet of color poems to go along with my Color Unit.  It contains 12 posters (8 1/2"x11"), plus 12 pages of cut-apart poems for students to use in their poetry notebooks/journals.  Click here to download this free product.

I have also made a 145-page packet of activities and printables to go along with the unit.  You can find it at Color Unit: Literacy, Math & Art Activities.
Here are a few pictures of activities included in the packet.

Directions are included for making an edible color wheel.
Directions for making a rainbow heart.
Plus, there are directions for making a Clifford for Red Day.
The packet has 145 pages of everything you need for your color study/review.

I have also been working materials for my Eric Carle author study that we do after our color unit.  I made a packet of activities and printables to supplement the story, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?  I have also posted a FREEBIE student book that is perfect for reviewing color words and retelling the classic story.  Here is a link to the student book.
